Pay Attention

Warning signs are all around us, but wisdom is what helps us actually see them and respond before things fall apart. Proverbs 22:3 draws a clear line between the prudent person who recognizes danger and moves, and the simple person who passes right by it. Wisdom does not just give us answers. It gives us discernment, the ability to recognize what we are looking at and ask where it is headed. God often sends warnings as an act of mercy, giving us time to respond before a small problem becomes a full crisis. We also need people in our lives who love us enough to tell us the truth, not just agree with us. And beyond recognizing warnings, wisdom also helps us identify what season we are in so we do not miss what God is preparing us for.
