Most of us spend our lives chasing more, more money, more opportunity, more influence. But Solomon, one of the wisest men who ever lived, made it clear that wisdom is the principal thing, the most important pursuit above all else. Before you get anything else, get wisdom first. The problem is not always that God has not given us enough. Often, we simply have not developed the wisdom to handle what we already have. Wisdom is not something that comes with age or time alone. It must be actively pursued with urgency and intention. And wisdom does not only tell us what to go after. It also tells us what to leave alone. With all your getting, do not forget the principal thing.
